Hello, I’m Garett…
…raised by a pack of movies and one very dramatic camcorder.
The year was 2007.
A student organization I was part of needed to promote an upcoming fundraiser. Someone asked if anyone had ideas. I raised my hand and said, “What if I made a video?”—which, at the time, was met with mild confusion and a healthy amount of skepticism. Promotional videos weren’t really a thing yet, but I told them, “Just trust me.”
I shot a noir-style, single-take scene in near-total darkness with a DV camcorder, edited it to a booming operatic score, and fine-tuned the cut over 72 hours. We uploaded it to Facebook. What happened next felt seismic. Chaos—in my college bubble. Comments, likes, DMs poured in for weeks. People stopped us on campus to talk about it, and the event became the most attended of its kind the school had ever seen.
Perhaps more importantly, I had finally found something that ignited me from the inside out. I found my super power that could make an impact on people and our world. That video changed my major to film, and my life’s direction along with it.
Today, I’m a creative producer, director, and writer, with over a decade of experience crafting award-winning visual stories. I spent over 8 years at Warner Bros Discovery’s in-house sports creative agency, where I earned a few Emmy Awards for campaigns that blended cinematic storytelling with cultural impact. Now, I help lead high-profile projects at Ideas United, a creative studio in Atlanta, working with top-tier clients to develop original content that resonates far beyond the screen.
I’ve also written and directed short films that have made the rounds on the festival circuit, all driven by the same instinct I had back in that college edit bay: to chase what feels interesting, impactful and honest.
I tell stories that resonate—whether for a brand, a film, or a cause. It isn’t just what I do as a profession— It’s the thing I’m most passionate about.
